When Saab wanted to demonstrate how the UrSaab, it's first ever automobile, linked with a number of different 20th century design icons, they included Luxo’s L-1 task light (which celebrated its 70th birthday last year) and it's big brother, The Great One.

Luxo’s L-1 family consists of three models from the compact Lillyna (the inspiration to the founders of Pixar! – see following link

http://www.pixar.com/shorts/ljr/ ) through the original L1 desk lamp to the latest addition, the six ft tall The Great 1.

All three products are based on the original style that has made Luxo task lighting the most popular in the world. The original L1 was developed in 1937 and, while making use of the latest materials and lighting technologies, retains the same classical design as it's forerunners. The L1 is available with a desk clamp, table base or wall fitting.

Saab iconnections celebrates the very best of 20th Century design, explaining how many of the most recognised icons of the last 100 years are all interlinked. This demonstration begins with the iconic UrSaab and showcases a number of historic and contemporary pieces, including Luxo’s task lamps, the Hasselblad camera, the Panton Chair and culminating in the future of motoring, the Saab 9-3 BioPower, a car that runs on the environmentally friendly fuel Bioethanol E85.
